We're doing some "dont drop our channels" shuffle, complete with 2 hour meetings that seem to go nowhere.

I've realized that I need to make sure I bolster my own enthusiasm or my unique intelligence and contribution.
I've become aware that that part of me feels neglected. This has led to low energy, avoidance and procrastination.

For a while now, several weekends in a row, I've given up on my own plans, usually a bit of fun I'm trying to get, like a bike ride or watching The Dirty Dozen with Malachy. This has a cumulative effect on my mood and my ability to be patient, focused and productive.

Kevin Cashmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/14452160947667843823noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11363493.post-77333601339859413272012-04-19T13:54:00.001-04:002012-05-25T09:52:50.198-04:00Capturing RandomThoughts for the day. I have been noticing a growing trend around taking a ridiculous stance on some topic and then just using it as bait to create buzz, or hype or in some cases 'content'. Is it a result of growing up during the cold war? Or was it the "cola war"? C'mon, you know what I mean; Mac vs. PC, (or Apple vs. Microsoft) Coke vs. Pepsi etc.

Here's an example of a rant, thinly disguised as content (read the posts to clarify why it's just bad).

Heck even this bicycle advocacy site is "pointing out media bias, faulty reasoning, and misinformation."

So it got me thinking, what if miraculously all that bogus content and debate could just be removed from the internet? Sort of like a giant SPAM filter for content… I guess that is why aggregating your own content is becoming more popular and essential.

Geez, what would the world be like if we could just eliminate it altogether. I guess it's a by-product of a consumer society. I mean, where there IS no difference, the market must CREATE a difference.
So the hair splitting value of the taste of Coke can be differentiated (blind taste test, yeah right) from Pepsi.

I'm not a "mac-guy", I use a mac, but I use PCs too. Stop using "liberal" like it's a bad word.Kevin Cashmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15744463785349689492noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11363493.post-1131257623604826022005-11-06T01:01:00.000-05:002006-11-15T22:25:12.703-05:00GooglingIt's a powerful tool but without proper discipline it can become an addiction. There's a great article on NYtimes.com about how it can scare big companies like Walmart. I like that. I recently had a conversation about the different levels fo googling skill that people have (some can seemingly find anything, some not a damn thing.)

So I googled someone I know and found some fascinating info on them, do I share that? Am I a google-stalker? A googalker® ( I am registering that!) Maybe I'm just up too late.

The info is obviously publicly available, but maybe this is one of those grey areas of internet privacy. I think of it as like catching a glimpse into someone's window.

Incidentally, I happen to share the same name as a rather well represented management consultant/guru who has written books and gives expensive lectures, so my name is coopted int he google universe by him. What should we call that? Goog-jacking?Kevin Cashmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15744463785349689492noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11363493.post-1110918310851712252005-03-15T14:56:00.000-05:002006-11-15T22:25:12.624-05:00security, fear, power and violenceI am curious to know why bodies are discovered in parks in Washington DC. (Shondra Levy and Vince Foster) and how judges can be shot inside their courthouses and how Anthrax keeps showing up on government mail and no one is ever found responsible, or in the case of court shootings, how it even happens to begin with. It makes me wonder how all the "hunt for Bin Laden" business is ever going to pan out and for that matter, the whole War on Terror.

Don't get me wrong I don't believe terrorism is in any way a legitimate political tool. My grandfather was a terrorist (IRA) or patriot depending on who you're talking to and I have been thinking about this stuff alot lately. I mean, who's wrong? who's in the wrong? What is wrong? "Wrong" in these complex political situations seems to be a grey area.

Isn't he US one of the largest manufacturer's and distributors of weapons on this great earth? What do we think all that weaponary will reap? I find the religiosity of our president and the weapons budgets incongruous. I find the brawn over brains policy lacking, it seems to be a media sport to call the UN useless of inneffective, like intelligent discussion and consensus are foolish ideas for dreamers.
